Lyncée Tec, a leader in Digital Holographic Microscope (DHM) technology, has been acquired by Park Systems, a South Korean nanometrology pioneer. This strategic move enhances Park Systems’ optical metrology offerings and expands their capabilities in semiconductor applications.

Founded in 2003 by EPFL researchers, Lyncée Tec has built a strong reputation for its cutting-edge DHM technology. Unlike conventional optical profiling methods, DHM uses hologram technology to capture 3D sample information across the entire field of view without scanning, providing imaging speeds over 100 times faster than conventional techniques. Its compact design and powerful capabilities make DHM indispensable in materials science, life science, MEMS, and industrial manufacturing. With two decades of innovation, Lyncée Tec has earned a worldwide reputation for reliable, precise instruments that support academic research and industrial production.

The acquisition by Park Systems Corporation, headquartered in Suwon, Korea, marks a significant step in the company’s growth strategy. Park Systems, a leading supplier of atomic force microscopes (AFM), intends to integrate Lyncée Tec’s DHM technology into its AFM platform. The collaboration will enable the development of a fully automated DHM system tailored to advanced semiconductor processes, including packaging solutions.

“This acquisition represents a pivotal step in our journey to provide comprehensive solutions for semiconductor processes,” said Dr. Sang-il Park, Founder and CEO of Park Systems. “Combining Lyncée Tec’s DHM expertise with our nanometrology innovations will drive new advancements in optical metrology.”

A milestone in holographic imaging

For Lyncée Tec, the partnership opens new avenues for growth. “Park Systems’ experience in scaling AFM technology from lab instruments to semiconductor solutions is invaluable,” noted Dr. Etienne Cuche, Founder and CTO of Lyncée Tec. “Reflecting on the journey from our first DHM prototype 25 years ago to this global milestone is deeply rewarding.”

The acquisition follows Park Systems’ purchase of Accurion GmbH in 2022, further solidifying its position as a leader in advanced metrology solutions for high-tech industries.
